| Advancing the timing will increase hp, but I am under the impression that Ash didn't manipulate the timing to make his chip look better on the dyno in a heads up comparison w/ the JWT ECU. Why haven't I got one? I bought my TT last september, since then I have done the following:
Repaired Leak in Hatch Replaced Shift knob with new OEM Leather Replaced Trim piece blown off at a speed I won't quote Replaced Torn Dust boots under shifter Replaced Hood Latch Holding Clip and Gromet Replaced Broken Gauge Dash Cover Replaced Rusted Spark Plugs Repolished all 4 Wheels Installed New High Pressure Power Steering Hose Installed New Alternator Replaced Clogged Fuel Filter New Oxygen Sensors x 2 New Oil/Water Bypass hose Kit New fuel lines New Brake Booster Hoses New PCV's and hoses New valve cover gaskets New oil pressure sending unit New slave cylinder Replaced timing belt Replaced timing belt sprocket Put in RPS Clutch Put in RPS segmented aluminum flywheel Installed my GReddy PE Exhaust Put in Greg Dupree's split flange dp's Rewired amp/speakers Installed JVC Head Unit Installed Sub-frame spacers Replaced Right-rear wheel bearing Replaced all four tires ...and that's just the crap I can remember. Long story short, when I get the money, I will get Ash's ECU. I have had more important things to do with it, like keeping my car on the road. I got one of those TT's that the previous owner was lazy with, so I've had to go back and replace a million parts and spend literally thousands (probably like 4K parts and labor) just to keep it running. Um, oh yeah, I managed to invest a few K and save up enough money for a down payment on my soon to be purchased townhouse. My car isn't my only financial priority, or even my primary financial priority. So my thoughts are this: I think Ash's ECU will be an excellent upgrade for any TT that has been properly maintained that requires no maintenance. Keeping it running is a requirement, performance mods are gravy. I can't justify spending money on power adders when my car isn't in perfect condition. #1. Maintenance. #2. Power. #3. Looks.
